Marian Barell international trade specialist

Oakton's Global Business Studies is pleased to welcome Marian Barell. Marian has terrific international trade experience in both the public and private sectors. She brings to 30 years of hands-on experience to the program thanks to her experience in Washington, D.C., in the global business arena, first as a negotiator of international trade agreements for the U.S. Government, then as a legislative aide on Capitol Hill involved with trade issues and finally as a lobbyist for telecommunications companies. She has worked on all aspects of trade-related decision-making from both the public and private sector perspectives, and she brings an insider’s understanding of how to achieve a company’s importing and exporting goals.

Marian has practical experience in working with private sector trade associations, interest groups and ad hoc organizations to achieve trade and global business goals. She has worked with governments from Asia, Latin America and Europe and appreciates the country-to-country interplay and diverse perspectives that other cultures bring to the negotiating table.
